The Spring 2024 online exhibition entitled HAPPILY EVER UNSURE is featuring a recent series of paintings by the Slovak artist based Rastislav Podhorský.
"I don't know if, from the author's point of view, there is anything more to say than what has already been said in the exhibition announcement. I mean, maybe there's too much to say, because this selection shows a wide range of my approaches, where I've tried to shape the language of painting differently, in the service of my figurative colleagues, to find for them their living space, where they can appear. And this selection shows this hope of finding a connection between the living space of painting and the figure, for each painting anew."
Slovak artist Rastislav Podhorský lives and works in Bratislava, Slovakia.
His work contains figurative paintings, drawings and writing about art.
In the 2017 was published his art theory book The Ferryman: On figures in art and people in nonart (AFAD, Slovart). In 2021 he became ArtD. (Artist doctor) with his thesis The Contradictor: The frameworks and latent possibilities of visual art where he subjected his prewious book to criticism and different perspectives.
In 2017-2021 he was the head of Painting studio III. at Academy of fine arts and design in Bratislava (in colaboration with Martin Špirec).
